VERSATILE MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS
John Michael Bio:
John Michael, from Dún Laoghaire Ireland, is an eclectic and proficient vocalist. He began vocalizing at the age of four and has been performing ever since. He is extremely versatile in many genres including Jazz, Swing, Rock, Celtic, Heavy Metal, Blues, Funk, Soul and Opera. More than just a vocalist, John is adept at creating an atmosphere with his audience resulting in a dedicated following.
He began his career as a member of the High School All California State Honor Choir, where he performed at the Dorothy Chandler center in Los Angeles with conductor Paul Salamunovich. From there John worked professionally as an impressionist, and song and dance performer at the Great America theme parks in Santa Clara California, and Chicago Illinois.
For the past twenty years John has worked as a lead rock vocalist for various groups in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the Monterey Peninsula Area, opening up for national touring acts such as: Chris Isaak, Third Eye Blind, The Fix, Berlin, Huey Lewis, Greg Khin, The Pointer Sisters, The Temptations, The Tubes and Alan Holdsworth. Additionally, John has recorded commercial jingles for Oral Bee, The City of San Jose, Acura, and Kelly Moore Paints, working with producer Russell Bond at the Music Annex in Menlo Park, California.
John has performed in Los Angeles, Chicago, The San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Cruz, and Monterey, California. He has performed with Monterey pianists: Bob Phillips, Tom Lawson, Rick Yramategui, Will Mc Dougal, Tony Stead of Sly and The Family Stone; Bay Area guitarists: Hershel Yatovitz of the Chris Isaak band, Dave Walker of The D.B. Walker Band, Dylan Rose of Archer Nation and Dylan Rose Band, Santa Cruz Guitarist Patrick Boun Sante of Spun, Bay Area guitarist Markus Yamamoto of Entourage, Santa Cruz guitarist Mick Adams of Live Again, Monterey guitarist Patrick Golden of Bog Iron and Vulture King, Becca Kachman of Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band. In addition John performs with musical groups: The John Michael Band, Essence, D.B. Walker, Village Green, Bog Iron, The Bog, Danny Mulligan, Paddy’s Murphy, Kinks Tribute, Village Green and various trios and duos. Recently, he performed with “Come Fly with Me,” (Sinatra Tribute Ensemble) at Don Quixote’s in Felton, on July 16th, 2017, to a packed house. He has been singing the National Anthem at the Big Sur International Marathon 2008 - 2018 and has sung with The White Album Ensemble with The Santa Cruz Symphony, at the Civic Auditorium in June 2012.

Mack McDonald, of the Monterey Herald wrote in his June 2nd 2011 column: “Michael, joined the White Album Ensemble last weekend at Hidden Valley, he did a bang-up job singing the Beatles. In other words, seems he can sing anything well!” Columnist Jerry Gervase, of the Monterey Herald wrote of a performance by John Michael, From Pavarotti to Sinatra, “He was so good that if the Three Tenors had heard him, at least two of them would have hidden out in the witness protection program.”
